Plastic & Aesthetic Surgery

Abdominoplasty in Brescia: a flat abdomen, where hard work was not enough.

Abdominoplasty removes excess skin from the abdomen and repairs the muscle wall (including rectus diastasis) after pregnancy or major weight loss. At Palazzo Manzoni, in Brescia, it is both a functional and an aesthetic procedure, planned around your actual abdominal wall.

At Palazzo Manzoni in Brescia, the lead surgeon for abdominoplasty is Dr. Stefano Di Nonno, within the plastic surgery department headed by Dr. Enrico Motta. The body surgery team performs liposuction, body fat grafting (lipofilling), lipoedema surgery, abdominoplasty (with correction of rectus diastasis where indicated), gynaecomastia correction, brachioplasty, buttock augmentation, buttock lifts and thigh lifts.

Why you are here

When neither diet nor sit-ups can close the gap.

After one or more pregnancies, the abdominal wall can remain separated along the midline (rectus diastasis, or diastasis recti) and no exercise will close it: it is a mechanical problem, not a training one.

Or you have lost a lot of weight, the right way, and your skin has not followed: the redundant tissue on the lower abdomen remains, with the practical discomfort you know only too well.

Abdominoplasty exists for these cases: when your body’s response no longer depends on your discipline, but on its structure.

Did you know?

The navel has its own aesthetics too, and they are not the same for men and women. Analysing 81 photographs of models, two Australian plastic surgeons observed that in men the ideal shape is a horizontal oval, whereas in women a vertical oval is considered more attractive.

What makes our approach different

Why the abdomen sometimes needs surgery, and when it doesn’t

The distribution of fat tissue is established at puberty, following genetic and hormonal patterns. Localised fat is not a failure of effort: it is biology. Liposuction is the answer to localised fat in skin with reasonable tone. Abdominoplasty is the answer when the main change is excess skin and separated rectus muscles. Brachioplasty, thigh lifts and buttock lifts are the answers when skin laxity predominates, typically after major weight loss. Working out which problem you really have is the whole job of the consultation.

The lead surgeon is Dr. Stefano Di Nonno, within the department headed by Dr. Enrico Motta: the surgeon who plans your procedure is the one who performs it, and the one who sees you afterwards.

01

A specialist who knows how to say no

A procedure is only proposed when it genuinely suits your anatomy, your age, your timing and your real goals. Sometimes the right plan is a different procedure, or none at all.

02

One surgeon, from first consultation to follow-up

The surgeon who plans your procedure is the one who performs it, and the one who sees you afterwards.

03

Hospital-standard operating theatres, inside a palazzo

Sterile, modern and fully equipped: inside a restored historic building, not down a hospital corridor.

04

Restraint as a philosophy

Harmony restored, not transformation. Technique chosen for anatomy and indication, not for trends: a result that others will notice only as “you look well”.

Your Journey

How an abdominoplasty is planned, in Brescia

Step 01

Book your consultation

Phone, email, WhatsApp or online form. No referral needed. Allow between an hour and an hour and a half.

Step 02

The first visit

Clinical examination, measurements, photographic documentation, anatomical analysis (skin laxity, fat distribution, muscle wall) and time for you to tell us, in your own words, what you would like. You leave with a written plan and a detailed quote, not a contract.

Step 03

Time to decide

Major procedures are rarely booked at the first visit. You take the plan home, read it, sleep on it, ask more questions, and come back if you need to. No countdown.

Step 04

The procedure

Day surgery, a single overnight stay or a short hospital stay, depending on the procedure. After the pre-operative tests, the surgeon who planned the operation is the one who performs it.

Step 05

Recovery and follow-up

Most procedures involve a week to ten days of reduced social activity; compression garments are worn as instructed. Check-ups are scheduled at the intervals your procedure requires, with a direct line to your surgeon in the meantime.

Caution before surgery

does not offer body contouring to patients who are still actively losing weight

«The body a patient brings to the consultation is the result of years of life: pregnancy, weight loss, time, genetics. The procedure we plan together is one chapter of a longer story, not its conclusion. The right plan is the one that respects what the body has already been through.»

The Procedures

Abdominoplasty in Brescia: the different types

A patient who asks for an abdominoplasty, but whose problem is only localised fat, will be advised to have liposuction, and vice versa. The correct diagnosis comes before the technique.

None of these procedures is interchangeable, and receiving the wrong operation is the most common cause of dissatisfaction in body contouring as a discipline. Technique is chosen for anatomy and indication, not for trends.

→Full abdominoplasty

removal of redundant skin from the lower abdomen, repair of the diastasis and repositioning of the navel: the benchmark correction after pregnancy or major weight loss.

→Mini abdominoplasty

when the excess is limited to the abdomen below the navel: a shorter scar, a quicker recovery, precise indications.

→Abdominoplasty with liposuction

lipoabdominoplasty combines reshaping of the flanks with correction of the abdominal wall: the profile is treated through 360 degrees in a single procedure.

→Repair of diastasis and hernias

correction of the abdominal wall can include umbilical or epigastric hernias, in collaboration with the general surgeon when indicated.

The consultation will clarify which type, if any, suits your abdominal wall.

At Palazzo Manzoni, a mini abdominoplasty starts from €6,000 and a full abdominoplasty from €10,000. Combined with liposuction, the price ranges from €12,000 to €15,000; with mesh reinforcement of the abdominal wall it starts from €14,000. Prices include the surgeon, anaesthesia, the operating theatre, an overnight stay where needed and follow-up visits after surgery.

The final quote is drawn up at the consultation, in writing, once the surgeon has assessed your case and agreed the most suitable technique with you. The consultation costs €100 and is deducted from the price of the procedure if you decide to go ahead. All starting prices are on the plastic surgery price list.

Frequently Asked Questions

The most common questions
about abdominoplasty

How do you decide between abdominoplasty and liposuction?

Through the diagnosis, which comes before the technique. Abdominoplasty is the answer when the main change is excess skin and separated rectus muscles: it removes redundant skin from the lower abdomen, repairs the diastasis and repositions the navel, and it involves a significant scar, designed to stay hidden by underwear. Liposuction is the answer when the fat is localised and the skin still has reasonable tone. A patient who asks for an abdominoplasty, but whose problem is only localised fat, will be advised to have liposuction, and vice versa. When the two components coexist, there is lipoabdominoplasty, which combines reshaping of the flanks with correction of the abdominal wall.

Who performs abdominoplasty at Palazzo Manzoni?

Abdominoplasty at Palazzo Manzoni is handled by Dr. Stefano Di Nonno, specialist in General Surgery with a master’s degree in Aesthetic Surgery and the department’s lead surgeon for liposuction and body surgery, within the plastic surgery department headed by Dr. Enrico Motta. The same surgeon handles the consultation, the procedure and the follow-up visits.

What is rectus diastasis, and how do I know if I have it?

Rectus diastasis (diastasis recti) is a separation of the two rectus abdominis muscles along the midline, common after pregnancy. It produces a central bulge that is visible when you sit up from lying down or when you strain. A simple physical test during the consultation, and an ultrasound scan where useful, confirm the diagnosis and its width. A mild diastasis often improves with appropriate postnatal physiotherapy in the first year. A persistent, wide or symptomatic diastasis is an indication for surgery.

Where does the abdominoplasty scar lie?

Low and horizontal, designed to stay hidden by underwear; a full abdominoplasty also leaves a scar around the navel, which is repositioned. When the excess is limited to the abdomen below the navel, a mini abdominoplasty allows a shorter scar. It remains a significant scar, and its position is a planning priority: it is defined at your visit, based on your anatomy. It matures over twelve months, and scar quality is partly down to biology.

How long is the recovery after an abdominoplasty?

A full abdominoplasty requires two to three weeks before light work and six weeks before high-impact activities; the scar reaches full maturity at twelve months. A mini abdominoplasty, being more limited, takes from ten days to two weeks. The procedure is carried out as day surgery. The pathway involves a period of reduced social activity, with the compression garment worn as instructed, check-ups scheduled at the intervals your procedure requires and a direct line to your surgeon in the meantime. Every plan you take home includes a written recovery calendar, specific to your procedure.

Will the results of abdominoplasty last?

For a procedure performed on a patient close to her stable weight and in a stable life situation, yes: the change in contour is lasting, and the repair of the abdominal wall addresses a mechanical problem, the diastasis, that no exercise would have closed. If, on the other hand, you are still actively losing or gaining weight, or are planning a pregnancy in the near future, the result will be altered by those later changes: this is one of the reasons why the advice is sometimes to wait. We discuss this at the consultation.

Can abdominoplasty be combined with other procedures?

Yes, and it often is: lipoabdominoplasty combines reshaping of the flanks with correction of the abdominal wall, so that the profile is treated through 360 degrees in a single procedure, and correction of the wall can include repair of umbilical or epigastric hernias, in collaboration with the general surgeon when indicated. The usual limit still applies, however: each additional procedure lengthens the operating time and increases the physiological load, and beyond a certain threshold the combined risk profile outweighs the benefit. What to combine is decided case by case during the consultation, based on the total operating time, the overall volume of liposuction and your health.

How much does an abdominoplasty cost?

A mini abdominoplasty starts from €6,000 and a full abdominoplasty from €10,000; a lipoabdominoplasty ranges from €12,000 to €15,000 and an abdominoplasty with mesh reinforcement of the abdominal wall starts from €14,000, all inclusive. The exact figure depends on the complexity of the case: repair of umbilical or epigastric hernias, for example, may require the collaboration of the general surgeon. Once the procedure has been recommended, you receive a detailed written quote, with no hidden costs. The department does not negotiate on price and does not apply promotions to surgery. All prices are on the plastic surgery costs page.
