“A serious plastic surgeon is recognisable by the operations they choose not to perform. My job is to listen to what you actually want, study your anatomy carefully, and propose only what genuinely suits you — even when that means recommending less than you arrived asking for, or nothing at all.”

— Dr. Enrico Motta, Plastic Surgeon

Dr.
Enrico Motta

Lead plastic surgeon at Palazzo Manzoni in Brescia. Specialist in Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery, with face, breast, body, hair-loss and dermatological surgery as the core practice. Long-running editorial author on aesthetic medicine and surgery.

Background and Clinical Practice

Background and
clinical practice

Dr. Enrico Motta is Specialist in Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery, with a clinical practice that spans the full range of the discipline: face surgery (rhinoplasty, blepharoplasty, facelift, mid-face and chin surgery, otoplasty, lipofilling), breast surgery (augmentation, lift, reduction, revision, post-mastectomy reconstruction, lipofilling), body contouring (liposuction, abdominoplasty with diastasis repair, lipedema surgery, gynaecomastia, brachioplasty, gluteoplasty, thigh lift), hair-loss surgery (FUE and FUT), and dermatological surgery (lesion excision, scar revision).

He leads the plastic surgery department at Istituto Chirurgico Palazzo Manzoni in Brescia. His operations are performed in the clinic’s own day-surgery suites, in the restored historic palazzo at Via dei Mille 14.

The department’s working principle is single-surgeon continuity: the same doctor sees the patient at consultation, plans the operation, performs it, and reviews the patient at every post-operative interval.

How Dr. Motta Approaches a Case

How Dr. Motta
approaches a case

A consultation with Dr. Motta begins with the patient’s goals in their own words, before any procedural language is introduced. The work of a serious plastic surgeon, in his framing, is to listen to that wish, examine the anatomy carefully, distinguish what is descended from what is volume-deficient from what is genuinely structural, and recommend the operation — or non-operation — that genuinely suits the patient across the long horizon of how a face or body will age over the coming decade.

He emphasises:

Restraint over scope

Smaller volumes, conservative skin removal, a shorter incision when the anatomy permits — and the longer incision when the anatomy needs it. We do not perform the maximal-volume operations that have produced the field’s safety controversies.

Single-surgeon continuity

The patient who arrives at the first consultation is the patient he reviews at twelve months. There is no hand-off.

Anatomical literacy explained to the patient

Patients leave consultation understanding what the operation is doing — at the level of the SMAS, the orbital septum, the rectus diastasis, the donor follicular density — and why.

Honest candidacy

Patients seeking the wrong operation, the wrong magnitude, or the wrong timing are told so plainly. Some leave with the recommendation not to operate.
