The Décolletage: the area that skincare forgets
28.01.2026

The décolletage, the region of the upper chest between the neck and the breasts, is one of the most exposed areas of the body and, paradoxically, one of the least protected. Its skin, thin and with few glands, shows the passage of time early on, yet it is often left out of the daily care routines reserved for the face.
Several factors converge on this area. Photoaging, caused by cumulative sun exposure, produces spots and a loss of firmness; the position taken during sleep, lying on one side, promotes the characteristic vertical wrinkles over time; and the natural reduction in collagen completes the picture. It’s worth noting that these are common signs, not a flaw to be dramatized.
Prevention, once again
Since the sun is the main culprit, the most effective measure is also the simplest: extending to the décolletage the same sun protection and skincare reserved for the face. It is an unglamorous habit, but one capable, on its own, of slowing much of the aging that people later wish to correct.

The thin skin of the décolletage shows the effects of the sun early on: protection and biostimulation are its cornerstones.
Available treatments
When signs are already present, aesthetic medicine offers biostimulation, which stimulates the skin to produce new collagen, along with targeted treatments for wrinkles and discoloration. In cases of volume loss, fat grafting can be used. In every case, these are gradual interventions, to be calibrated to each person’s skin, with no promise of erasing time.
Who they are suitable for
They are suitable for those who wish to harmonize the décolletage with a face and neck that are already well cared for, recognizing that this area requires its own attention. The evaluation determines which measures are appropriate and in what sequence, as part of a personalized plan.
The décolletage, then, teaches a rule that runs through all of aesthetic medicine: preventing, with consistency and moderation, is worth more than chasing a correction. And every choice, even the simplest, deserves to start with a consultation.
