Buttock reshaping encompasses the techniques used to improve their shape, volume, and projection, adapting the approach to each patient’s build. The goal, contrary to what certain messaging suggests, is not exaggerated volume, but a natural proportion with the pelvis and the rest of the figure.

The gluteal region is formed by the combination of the gluteus maximus muscle and the fatty tissue covering it, and its shape depends on the relationship between these elements, the structure of the pelvis, and the quality of the skin. Understanding this balance is the starting point for choosing the right technique.

Different techniques for different needs

The various procedures should not be confused with one another. Fat grafting – the transfer of the patient’s own fat, harvested via liposuction and reinjected into the buttocks is today the most widely used approach for those with sufficient fat reserves. Gluteal implants have a place in select cases, while a lift is indicated when, after significant weight loss, excess skin predominates. Each has its own specific indications and is not interchangeable with the others.

Preoperative marking defines shape and projection: the goal is balance with the pelvis, not extreme volume.

How it is performed

Fat grafting is performed under general anesthesia or deep sedation and involves two stages: harvesting the fat and then grafting it. Recovery takes several weeks, during which direct pressure on the treated area is avoided. It’s worth noting that some of the grafted fat is naturally reabsorbed, which is why the final result only stabilizes after a few months.

Who it is suitable for, and with what caution

The ideal candidate has a proportionate request and an adequate amount of available fat tissue. This procedure demands a rigorous technique and an experienced surgeon, because when performed without due care, gluteal fat grafting carries non-negligible risks. Here, safety comes before the effect.

Good buttock reshaping, then, is recognized by its naturalness and balance, not by its volume. It is a result born of careful candidate selection and thorough evaluation, not of chasing a trend.
